This proposal for a 32 unit multi-family project to be located in South Austin
was based upon a need to provide affordable housing for single parents
with children 1 to 18 years of age. The buildings were paired and set apart
into quadrants in response to a need to create a hammerhead fire truck
turnaround at the project's center. Each of the side lanes were flanked with
open air carport parking. Each parking space was positioned opposite a
fenced children's play area which was viewable from its adjacent kitchen.
Each building's living area viewed a common area available to older
child recreation and adult gathering space rather than the adjacent
buildings. Guest parking and entry into each quadrant occurred at the
common area's open corner next to the central turnaround.
