The unique massing of this working Texas ranch house employs traditional
materials such as masonry walls of brick and vertical lap and gap
bleached cedar siding, as well as wooden accents and heavy wood shake
roofs as exterior finishes. These finishes are then carried inside the house
in order to visually link the interior spaces of the house with the
corresponding outside environment. The house utilizes numerous energy
saving techniques such as supporting cross ventilation with the building's
orientation and strategically positioned windows. Masonry walls support
large overhangs that block late afternoon sun exposure.
